Exhibition on Christy Moore Opens at the Irish Traditional Music Archive

President of Ireland Catherine Connolly officially opened "Christy Moore: How Do Songs Live?" at the Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) in Dublin on October 6th. The exhibition features a comprehensive collection of the singer-songwriter’s personal archives, spanning more than six decades, including lyric notebooks, recordings, and photographs.

The Christy Moore Collection at ITMA

The exhibition is built upon a significant donation made by Moore to the ITMA in 2023. Visitors can view original setlists, personal correspondence, and various press materials that document his influence on Irish traditional music.

A core component of the exhibition is a series of 188 songs recorded by Moore in the ITMA studio as part of the donation process. During these sessions, Moore provided personal anecdotes and memories associated with the tracks. These recordings are integrated into the exhibition, allowing the public to listen to the stories behind the music.

Perspectives on the Exhibition Launch

She noted that his songs serve as a vital commentary on the struggles and lives of Irish people throughout the decades.
