Kent State Gymnastics Soars to Season High, Falls Just Short Against Central Michigan

Mount Pleasant, Mich. – The Kent State Golden Flashes delivered their most impressive performance of the 2026 season, achieving a season-high score of 196.000 in a narrow defeat against Central Michigan on Friday night. The Chippewas secured the win with a 196.075, edging out the Flashes by a mere 0.075 points.

A Season Best Performance

Despite the loss, Kent State’s score represents a significant milestone, surpassing their previous season best of 195.350 and marking the first time the team has broken the 196-point barrier this year. This achievement signals a positive trajectory for the Flashes as they continue their season.

Several Kent State gymnasts delivered standout performances across all four events.

Vault Standouts

Taylor Archambeau and Charlie Behner tied for first place on vault, both earning scores of 9.875. Jersey Bingman followed closely with a 9.800, while Sophia Balko and Avery Compson also contributed solid scores of 9.775 and 9.750, respectively.

Bars Brilliance

Charlie Behner and Nastia Rudnitskaya both achieved a score of 9.875 on bars, tying for first place. Taylor Archambeau (9.825), Sophia Balko and Heidi Schultz (both 9.800) also posted strong results.

Beam Balance

Heidi Schultz secured a tie for second place on beam with a score of 9.850. Mya Migliore earned a 9.825, while Dani Fuertez and Gabby Riley both scored 9.800.

Floor Finish

Heidi Schultz and Zoe Rankin tied for second place on floor with scores of 9.875. Nastia Rudnitskaya (9.775) and Jersey Bingman (9.750) also contributed to the Flashes’ strong showing.

Kent State will be back in action on Sunday, February 16, traveling to Denton, Texas, to compete in the TWU Tri-Meet at 3 p.m. Eastern time.
