Wagner Seahawks Announce Challenging 2026 Football Schedule
The Wagner College football team unveiled its 2026 schedule, a slate featuring two contests against Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponents and five home games at Hameline Field. This marks the ninth season the Seahawks will face two FBS teams, and the sixth consecutive year doing so.
A Tough Road Ahead: Facing Powerhouse Programs
Wagner will test its mettle against James Madison, a College Football Playoff participant in the previous season, on September 12th in Harrisonburg, Virginia. They’ll follow that with a trip to Berkeley, California, to grab on the California Golden Bears on September 19th. These matchups provide significant opportunities for exposure and will undoubtedly challenge the Seahawks.
Home Field Advantage at Hameline Field
The Seahawks will kick off their campaign with a Northeast Conference (NEC) home opener against Robert Morris on August 29th – the first time Wagner has started a season with a conference game since 2001. Hameline Field will also host Southern Connecticut State on September 5th, Princeton on October 10th, LIU on October 17th, and conference newcomer Fresh Haven on November 14th.
NEC Competition and Road Challenges
Beyond the FBS opponents, Wagner will navigate a competitive NEC schedule. They’ll face Central Connecticut State (CCSU) on October 3rd, Duquesne on October 24th, Merrimack on October 31st, and Mercyhurst on November 7th, all on the road. The regular season will conclude with a game at Stonehill on November 21st.
Hameline Field: A Modern Venue
Wagner’s home games will be played at Hameline Field, which underwent a $13 million renovation in 1998 and a FieldTurf surface replacement in 2006. The stadium, originally opened in 1967, has a capacity of 3,700 and features 400 premium seat back chairs. Lights were added in 2013, allowing for night games.
