CUI Women’s Tennis Faces Tough Matchup Against Middlebury, Eyes Final Home Game
IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine (CUI) women’s tennis team faced a challenging match against Middlebury on Tuesday, ultimately falling 7-0. Despite the scoreline, several Golden Eagles demonstrated competitive spirit and resilience.
Doubles Competition Highlights
The No. 1 doubles pairing of Bryn Johnson and Keona Gutierrez Dearmond put up a strong fight against Middlebury, losing 6-2 in a match characterized by extended rallies and strategic net play. Middlebury secured wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions with scores of 6-0.
Singles Play: Competitive Efforts Across the Board
Bryn Johnson, competing in the No. 1 singles slot, battled through long rallies and showcased consistency, ultimately falling 6-2, 6-3. Kristyna Dvorakova delivered a particularly strong performance at No. 2 singles, staying within striking distance in both sets before losing 6-3, 7-5.
Keona Gutierrez Dearmond secured two games in each set at the No. 3 position. Mikayla Avila and Ashley Aziz competed in the No. 4 and No. 5 slots, respectively, while Mianna Robinson earned a game in the second set of her match at No. 6.
