Article:

In a disturbing turn of events, Argentine authorities have been tirelessly advocating for the release of Argentine Gendarme, Nahuel Gallo, who has been held captive in Venezuela since December 8. The government of Argentina has now presented compelling evidence to support its claim that Gallo’s detention is unwarranted and baseless.

Gallo, a Gendarmería Nacional ceremonial guard, traveled to Venezuela to visit his wife and son, having obtained prior approval from Venezuelan authorities for a touristic and recreational stay. This was officially documented, and the ministry of Security has now submitted these records to Brazil, which acts as the intermediary between Argentina and Venezuela.

"The documents, accessed by Infobae, include a letter of invitation from María Gómez, Gallo’s partner and mother of his child, which clearly states his visit’s purpose: ‘…realizes this visit in quality of tourist, with exclusively recreational aims and without lucrative goals in the city of Puerto La Cruz‘," a source close to the matter told Infobae.

Argentine authorities insist that Gallo’s travel intentions were crystal clear and that Venezuelan authorities had no legitimate reason to apprehend and isolate him. They argue that if any irregularity was detected, he ought to have been denied entry, not abducted.

Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, lashed out at former Argentine ambassador to Venezuela, Oscar Laborde, for claiming that Gallo had not completed the necessary paperwork: "The scoundrel Laborde accuses Argentina of being the culprit, saying that the necessary procedures were not completed, which is false. Instead of questioning why he was kidnapped, he lies about sending the letter. He is a traitor to the homeland," Bullrich stated.

News of Gallo’s fateful visit broke on December 16 when his partner revealed his detention by Venezuelan authorities, who initially accused him of espionage and terrorism – baseless claims Argentine authorities swiftly refuted.

As the case evolves, the international community watches with growing concern, urging the Venezuelan regime to respect international law and ensure the immediate release of Nahuel Gallo.
