Utah State Gymnastics Soars to Strong Finish in Regular Season
TEMPE, Arizona – Utah State gymnastics concluded its regular season with a second-place finish at the Arizona State Tri Meet on Sunday, posting a team score of 196.300. Arizona State won the meet with 196.500, while Southeast Missouri State finished third with 193.750.
Aggies Achieve Program Best
The Aggies’ performance marks the fifth consecutive meet with a score of 196.000 or higher, tying a program record set in 2021. This season, USU has recorded six team scores of 196.000 or better, the third-most in school history. The team finished the regular season with a 16-5 record, tied for the fourth-most regular season wins in program history and the most since 1986.
Individual Highlights Shine
Junior Nyla Morabito and sophomore Kaylie Medrano tied for first on vault, both earning scores of 9.825. This tied Medrano’s career high. Freshman Charley Laufer secured her first career title with a score of 9.850 on bars.
Morabito continues to be a standout performer, now with 21 career titles. Her 12 vault titles rank fifth in program history, and her nine vault titles this season are tied for the most in school history with Michelle Pohl (1983). Medrano has four career titles, two on vault and two on beam.
Event Breakdown: A Consistent Performance
Utah State demonstrated consistent performance across all events. They began the meet on bars with a 48.975, followed by 49.150 on beam, 49.150 on floor, and 49.025 on vault. Arizona State scored 48.925 on vault, 49.150 on bars, 49.200 on beam, and 49.225 on floor. Southeast Missouri State posted scores of 48.300 on vault, 47.950 on bars, 48.675 on beam, and 48.825 on floor.
Looking Ahead: Mountain West Championships
Utah State will now travel to Boise, Idaho, to compete in the 2026 Mountain West Championships on March 21st at 6 p.m. The Aggies won the 2025 MW Championships with a score of 196.100.
