Mr. Pravin @ Kayden Zaqarya Abdullah, 31, gained attention online after a video circulated showing him attempting to put out the fire while wearing a white “jubah,” too known as a thobe. His wife, Ms. Icha, stated they were visiting her aunt when they noticed the fire at the first-floor rubbish chute of an adjacent block.
According to Ms. Icha, her husband and two brothers immediately went to help fight the blaze, using fire extinguishers and a hose. Members of the public also assisted before the arrival of the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). The fire was extinguished in approximately 10 minutes.
SCDF Investigation
The SCDF confirmed they were alerted to the fire at 8:30 PM and reported that the fire involved contents within a centralised rubbish chute. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. SCDF stated that the fire was extinguished by members of the public prior to their arrival.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. Mr. Kayden, a paramedic at a private company, has a history of assisting in critical situations, including traffic accidents, making his response to the fire a natural reaction, according to his wife.
