Homicide Investigation Underway Following Fatal Shooting Outside Langley Restaurant

Langley RCMP launched a homicide investigation after a 23-year-old man was killed in a shooting outside the Cactus Club Cafe parking lot on 200 Street near the Langley Bypass late Monday evening. First responders arrived at approximately 9:45 p.m. following reports of shots fired in the busy restaurant area, where they located the victim in medical distress. Despite life-saving efforts at the scene, the individual succumbed to their injuries.

Integrated Homicide Investigation Team Takes Charge

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) assumed control of the case shortly after the incident. Sgt. Zynal Sharoom confirmed that despite life-saving efforts, the individual succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Sgt. Freda Fong with IHIT noted that crews found the 23-year-old man in medical distress outside the restaurant in the 6000-block of 200 Street. Investigators are urging anyone with information, or anyone who captured video footage in the area between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 5, to contact IHIT directly.

Did You Know? Police discovered a white Range Rover at the scene with a damaged driver-side window appearing to have bullet holes, though the exact nature of that damage remains unconfirmed by officials.

Vehicle Fire Triggers Further Police Scrutiny

Just after 10 p.m. PT, RCMP officers responded to a separate call concerning a vehicle fire in the area of 232 Street and 75 Avenue. Homicide investigators subsequently located a burnt sedan at that location and stated they are working to determine if any direct links exist between the burning vehicle and the fatal shooting in Langley. Officials believe the burnt sedan was used during the commission of the homicide.

While investigators examine the victim’s history—including reported interactions with police in British Columbia regarding gang and weapons associations alongside Manitoba drug charges—authorities emphasize that the motive remains under active investigation.
