Hubert Hurkacz faces Lorenzo Musetti in the Paris Masters first round
Hubert Hurkacz will open his Paris Masters campaign against Lorenzo Musetti on November 2, sport.interia.pl reported. The first-round match at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament marks the sixth career meeting between the two players, with the Italian holding a 3-2 advantage in their head-to-head record.
Hurkacz enters the French capital following a second-round exit at the Swiss Indoors in Basel, where he lost a three-set match to Holger Rune. That result caused the Polish player to slip to 29th in the latest ATP rankings. Musetti sits at world number 26, despite a recent defeat to Arthur Fery at the Vienna Open.
Head-to-head history and recent form in Paris
The upcoming match renews a rivalry that most recently featured a victory for Musetti at the Madrid Open in April, where the Italian won 6-4, 7-6(4), sport.interia.pl noted. While Musetti captured a title earlier this season at the tournament in Lyon, the Italian seeks to rebound from his early exit in Vienna.
For Hurkacz, the tournament in Paris offers an immediate chance to regain momentum against a familiar opponent. The winner of the opening-round clash will face Alexander Zverev in the next stage of the tournament.
