Jakub Štáfek stars in Sériový manžel series

Actor Jakub Štáfek is taking on the role of a man who preys on women for affection and money in the new series Sériový manžel, a project drawn from real-life romance fraud cases, Novinky reported.

Jakub Štáfek Tackles Romance Fraud in Sériový Manžel

The 36-year-old actor, who has spent 22 years in the entertainment industry, joined the cast of Sériový manžel after finishing work on the film Šipkaři in Slovakia, Novinky reported. His agent, Mísa, flagged the script, leading Štáfek to read the material during a break in his schedule. Despite a tight window that required flying straight from Milan to a cold, rainy set for just four or five days of filming, he wanted to be part of the project because of its compelling subject matter.

While fellow actor Jakub Prachař took on the central role of the marriage scammer, Štáfek opted for a supporting part due to scheduling constraints. He noted that Prachař was the ideal choice for the lead, adding that he would have struggled to match that performance or take on the physical preparation required for the main character.

Public Education and Future Projects

Addressing the broader issue of romance scams, Štáfek told Novinky that society can combat manipulators through proactive education. Creating television series, writing books, and producing media that expose deceptive tactics help warn audiences against falling prey to such fraudsters.

Outside of Sériový manžel, Štáfek recently wrapped up the final installment of the Vyšehrad trilogy, bidding farewell to his signature blonde-haired football character, Julius Lavický, after a decade-long run. Following that milestone, he is preparing to travel to Asia at the end of October to film the second season of the travel reality show Asia Express, which is slated to air in 2027.
