John Gregory “Greg” DeYoung of Brierly Brook in Antigonish County died on December 14 2025 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish.
Greg was described by his family as a devoted partner, father, son, brother and friend who placed his loved ones’ needs above his own and worked tirelessly to provide for them.
He shared his life with his partner Kai‑Lee and was the father of seven children—Giselle, Jeremy, Dillon, Madison, Tigh, Nola and Emmy—whom he supported in activities such as horse riding, basketball and dance.
A lifelong Montreal Canadiens fan, Greg treasured a trip to Montreal last year with his brothers Leonard and Glen, brother‑in‑law Markus and nephews Marc and Nicky, a memory he recounted often.
At home, he enjoyed the company of his dog Nugget and cared for chickens and turkeys, routines that reflected his gentle and grounded nature.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. The funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish, with Reverend Daniel MacLennan presiding.
The family asks that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to support Greg’s three underage children’s ongoing care, education and wellbeing.
