Landvetter IS secured promotion to Ettan after defeating Qviding FIF 1–0 at Valhalla IP on October 2, 2026, local publication lokalpressen.se reported. Olle Johansson scored the decisive goal in the 56th minute to clinch the Division 2 Västra Götaland title with two matches remaining in the season.
Valhalla IP Climax
A crowd of 327 spectators gathered at Valhalla IP on a chilly October evening to watch the decisive fixture. Green-and-white supporters filled the stands to back Landvetter IS away from home.
The first half yielded few scoring opportunities. Landvetter struck the crossbar with a powerful shot, but the match remained scoreless at halftime.
The breakthrough arrived in the 56th minute. Right-winger Olle Johansson drove an unstoppable shot past the Qviding goalkeeper to break the deadlock.
Defensive Resilience Under Pressure
Qviding pushed heavily for an equalizer during the closing minutes of the match. Landvetter responded by defending desperately to protect their narrow lead.
“It was just anxiety and thoughts of catastrophe running through your head during those final minutes,” Pär “Pelle” Lagerkvist, assistant coach for Landvetter, told lokalpressen.se.
The team held firm to preserve the 0–1 scoreline until the final whistle. The victory marks a historic milestone for the club, which has never previously competed at the Ettan level.
Defensive Solidity
Lagerkvist credited the promotion to collective defensive discipline and timely goalscoring across the campaign. “We have put so much time into this, and then it is so wonderful when it gives back,” he said.
Goalkeeper Lucas Samuelsson anchored the backline throughout the year. He conceded only 19 goals across 24 appearances.
Samuelsson spent the previous season in Örgryte IS’s squad as they earned promotion to the Allsvenskan, though he did not feature in any matches. This year, he played every match as Landvetter’s primary choice.
“To be promoted is the best thing you can experience, it’s just pure happiness,” Samuelsson told lokalpressen.se.
