Nicholas Brendon, best known for his role as Xander Harris in the popular series “Buffy – The Vampire Slayer,” has died at the age of 54. His family announced that he passed away in his sleep due to natural causes.

Brendon’s family shared the news on Instagram, noting that while many knew him for his acting, he had also recently rediscovered a passion for painting and art. They emphasized his creative drive and sensitivity.

The statement acknowledged Brendon’s past struggles, stating he was undergoing treatment and optimistic about the future at the time of his death.

Brendon starred in “Buffy – The Vampire Slayer” from 1997 to 2003, alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar, Charisma Carpenter, and others. He faced public challenges with alcohol and drug issues and had several run-ins with the law, including multiple arrests for disruptive behavior in 2015.

Alyson Hannigan, who played Willow Rosenberg throughout the series, shared a photo with Brendon on social media, expressing gratitude for years of laughter and fondly remembering him.

In recent years, Brendon had been open about his health issues, including a heart attack and a congenital heart defect, as well as Cauda Equina Syndrome, requiring multiple spinal surgeries.

Brendon also appeared in guest roles on shows like “Criminal Minds” and “Private Practice,” and had a role in the 2021 film “Wanton Want.”
