Sierra Poetry Festival: A Decade of Verse and a Vibrant Fringe

Grass Valley, CA – The Sierra Poetry Festival is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, continuing its mission to uplift both regional and national poetic voices. Nevada City Poetry Crawl: A Literary Exploration

On Saturday, March 28, from 3:00-6:00 p.m., the 2nd Annual Nevada City Poetry Crawl will take place at various locations in downtown Nevada City, with a special reading at ‘Uba Seo. Attendees can enjoy poetry and workshops from local favorites, including The Poetry Crashers and Nevada County Poet Laureate Karen Terrey.

Open Mic Opportunities and Community Voices

Poets can compete for a chance to perform on the main stage through the Grass Valley Open Mic Poetry Slam, held at the Iron Door Saloon on Thursday, April 16, at 5:30 p.m. Two winners, selected by a panel of judges, will participate in the Community Voices segment of the festival.

Film Screening and Fundraising Event

To kick off National Poetry Month, the Sierra Poetry Festival has partnered with The Onyx for a fundraiser and screening of the film Paterson at the Nevada Theatre on Wednesday, April 1. The film, which premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, stars Adam Driver as a bus driver and poet.
