The newly inaugurated Majlis Park to Maujpur-Babarpur stretch of the Pink Line spans 12.3 kilometres and includes eight elevated stations. With this addition, the Pink Line now extends to approximately 71.56 kilometres, establishing Delhi as home to the country’s first fully operational Ring Metro. Stations along the route include Majlis Park, Burari, Jharoda Majra, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Soorghat, Nanaksar-Sonia Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar and Maujpur-Babarpur. The project incorporates a new bridge over the Yamuna River and a double-decker viaduct accommodating both metro tracks and a road flyover.
Deepali Chowk–Majlis Park Corridor (Magenta Line)
The Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park stretch of the Magenta Line, measuring approximately 9.9 kilometres, was also inaugurated. This new link is designed to improve connectivity for areas such as Madhuban Chowk, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Bhalaswa and Majlis Park, bolstering the transport network in northern Delhi. CM Rekha Gupta highlighted that a section of this corridor reaches a height of approximately 28.36 metres, making it one of the highest elevated sections within the Delhi Metro network.
Future Metro Corridors
Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone for three new routes under Phase V-A of the Delhi Metro, with a combined length of around 16.10 kilometres. These proposed corridors include the Central Vista Corridor (R.K. Ashram Marg to Indraprastha), a Golden Line extension from Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal 1, and another Golden Line extension from Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj. Officials stated that these routes aim to improve connectivity to key locations and facilitate travel between Noida, South Delhi, and the airport.
GPRA Redevelopment
Prior to the metro inauguration, the Prime Minister visited GPRA Type-5 quarters at Sarojini Nagar and handed over keys to female allottees. He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 15,200 crore under the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Redevelopment Plan, impacting areas including Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar and Sriniwaspuri. This redevelopment utilizes a self-sustainable financial model, with a portion of the project area being monetized to fund the overall effort. The plan is expected to deliver over 9,350 modern flats for government employees and approximately 48 lakh square feet of office space.
