Uruguayan Town Sees Rise in Commercial Crime, Prompting Swift Justice
A 29-year-old man in Pan de Azúcar, Uruguay, has been sentenced to three months in prison following a commercial burglary. The incident occurred on March 5th at approximately 10:30 PM on Charles Darwin Street.
The business owner alerted authorities after discovering an individual inside the closed premises. Police responded to find damage to a door and two thousand pesos missing.
An investigation quickly identified a suspect, leading to a warrant for his arrest. On March 20th, police located the man in the same area as the initial crime and took him into custody for questioning.
Later that day, a judicial hearing was held in Maldonado, resulting in the man’s conviction for theft and a three-month prison sentence.
