Musician Rostam is releasing his third studio album, American Stories, in May. The announcement follows a reveal on social media in November.
Exploring Identity Through Sound
American Stories is Rostam’s first full-length record since 2021’s Changephobia. According to the artist, the new album reflects his dual identity as both Iranian, and American. He described experimenting with combining Iranian musical elements with Western sounds, finding a unique resonance in the resulting “rub” between the two.
The album features a diverse range of collaborators, including Clairo on vocals, Yaghmai on saz, violin, and guitar, and Tobias Jesso Jr. On co-writing. A concert film accompanying the album is set to premiere later this spring.
