The event, taking place from 1 to 3 p.m. At 120 Elm Street (guests should enter on 2nd Avenue), marks 22 years of the SDRM providing this specific Easter meal to the San Diego community. The Rescue Mission itself is celebrating 70 years of service to the region.
More Than Just a Meal
Attendees will have access to more than just a holiday meal. Services offered include haircuts from 10:30 a.m. To 2 p.m., hot showers via mobile trailers from 11 a.m. To 1:15 p.m., and essential item giveaways on a first-come, first-served basis. Medical services, pet sitting, and community support will also be available.
Transportation will be provided through the Rescue Mission’s “HOPE” vans, offering free rides from the City’s O and B safe camping sites and The Neil Decent Day Center (299 17th St.) between 10:30 a.m. And 3:30 p.m.
According to Cedric McLean, SDRM’s director of marketing, the Easter Meal is about restoring a sense of dignity and belonging for those who may be facing the holiday alone. He noted that the event offers a safe space to connect with others and receive care.
