IndyCar Legends Dixon and Dallara Set to Join IMS Hall of Fame

Scott Dixon, a six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion, and Giampaolo Dallara, the founder of chassis manufacturer Dallara, will be inducted into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame on May 21, 2026. The announcement, made on February 10, 2026, recognizes their significant contributions to motorsports and their lasting impact on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Dixon: An Active Legend Honored

Dixon’s induction is particularly noteworthy as he is the first active full-time driver to receive this honor. With 59 career victories, he trails only A.J. Foyt’s 67 wins. He also boasts six season championships, just one shy of Foyt’s record. His consistency is remarkable, having secured a victory in a record 21 consecutive seasons. Dixon claimed the 2008 Indianapolis 500 title and has earned five pole positions at the race, second only to Rick Mears.

“It is a huge honor to be inducted into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame,” Dixon stated. “It’s such a historic venue in motorsports and means so much to me, having raced here for so many years now. It feels a little surreal as I’m still focused on winning here in May.”

Giampaolo Dallara: A Legacy of Innovation and Safety

Giampaolo Dallara founded Dallara Automobili da Competizione in 1972, initially building cars for Formula One and Formula 3. His experience at Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, and Williams De Tomaso laid the foundation for a company dedicated to designing, manufacturing, and supporting competitive race cars with a strong emphasis on both safety, and performance.

Dallara began supplying INDYCAR SERIES cars in 1997 and has been the series’ sole chassis supplier since 2008. The company expanded its U.S. Operations in 2012 with the opening of the Dallara Experience Hub in Speedway, Indiana, where chassis are produced and assembled for various racing series.

“Being inducted into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame is truly an honor,” Dallara said. “The Indianapolis 500 has inspired me since the very beginning of my career, and our journey in the United States has been built on passion, innovation and extraordinary people.”

The Selection Process

The selection of Dixon and Dallara was made by a national panel comprising over 150 journalists, drivers, industry leaders, historians, and existing Hall of Fame members. This was the first time either individual appeared on the ballot.
