A Life of Service and Family
Born to Verna (Dan Gilbraith) and Edward Burnett, she was predeceased by her husband, Beverley. Verna is remembered as a loving mother to Tom (Shirley) and Tammy.
For many years, Verna dedicated her professional life to education, working as a Secretary and Teachers Assistant with the Algoma District School Board. Beyond her career, she demonstrated a commitment to community service through her volunteer work with the Fibromyalgia Association.
Verna’s faith extended to the Bethel Bible Chapel as well. She found joy in simple pleasures, including time spent at her trailer and in her garden. A skilled craftswoman, she created quilts, crocheted items, knitted pieces, and sewed gifts for her family.
She was also an animal lover, sharing her life with numerous companions over the years. Verna was a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews, with special thanks extended to Wendy and Penny, as well as Sandra and Karen.
Cremation has taken place, as per Verna’s wishes. A memorial service is planned for the Spring of 2026, with details to be announced. Those wishing to honour her memory are invited to make memorial donations to the SAH – Renal Care Fund, the United Baptist Church, or a charity of their choice.
