Seattle Seahawks rookie running back Jadarian Price has been officially ruled out for Sunday’s Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Chargers after reaggravating a chest and shoulder injury during Wednesday’s practice. Price leads the team in rushing through three games with 119 yards.
The Seattle Seahawks will face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at Lumen Field without their leading rusher. Rookie running back Jadarian Price suffered a setback in practice, forcing head coach Mike Macdonald to rule him out for the upcoming matchup.
Price initially sustained the chest and shoulder injury during the second half of a Week 2 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Despite the injury, he managed to play in Week 3 against the Washington Commanders. He returned to practice on a limited basis Wednesday, but aggravated the injury during the session and missed practice entirely on Thursday and Friday.
Mike Macdonald Addresses the Rookie’s Timeline and Backfield Depth
Speaking to reporters, Macdonald expressed disappointment over the setback while emphasizing confidence in the remaining players on the roster. Through three games, he has totaled 28 carries for 119 yards and four receptions for 21 yards.
“Don’t know that yet… I’m not sure how long he’s going to be out.”
Mike Macdonald, Seahawks Head Coach
Macdonald added that the injury is simply an unfortunate part of the sport and praised the rookie’s approach since joining the franchise. He's done everything we've asked him to do since he got here,
Macdonald said. He's had a great attitude. He's been a great teammate. He has a great future.
Emanuel Wilson and George Holani Step Into Larger Roles Against Chargers
The Seahawks also have Velus Jones Jr. and Jacardia Wright on their practice squad, and one or both could be elevated against the Chargers.
Wilson has rushed for 109 yards this season, averaging 3.4 yards per carry, while Holani has chipped in 52 yards at 3.5 yards per carry and dealt with a rib injury that kept him limited in practice throughout the week. Offensive coordinator Brian Fleury could also throw a wrinkle into the situation by utilizing wide receiver Rashid Shaheed out of the backfield to help keep Los Angeles off balance.

“With Price out and with Zach Charbonnet, who returned to practice this week, not yet eligible to return from the physically unable to perform list, the Seahawks will turn to George Holani and Emanuel Wilson to carry the load, as well as, should they elevate him from the practice squad, Velus Jones Jr.”

Julian Love Returns to Boost the Secondary While Chargers Deal With Injuries
While the offense adjusts to changes in the backfield, the Seahawks defense gets a reinforcement. Safety Ty Okada, who participated fully in practice on Thursday, is listed as questionable alongside special teams stalwart Chazz Surratt, who is dealing with a chest injury. Other players who popped up on the injury report throughout the week, including Grey Zabel, Rashid Shaheed, and Leonard Williams, are all good to go for Sunday’s 1:25 p.m. kickoff at Lumen Field.
The visiting Chargers arrive in Seattle with an 0-3 record after dropping a game to the Buffalo Bills where they surrendered 176 yards on the ground and scored a season-high 16 points despite five turnovers. Los Angeles ruled out tight end Charlie Kolar with a forearm injury, wide receiver Brenen Thompson with a quadriceps injury, defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson with a hamstring injury, and guard Kayode Awosika with a fibula injury.
