Record-breaking Drone Deliveries Triple the Impact

Maintaining this momentum, General Alexander Syrskiy, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, recently announced that drone system deliveries to Ukrainian units have surged by a factor of 19 compared to 2023. This substantial increase has, in turn, led to a 3.7-fold rise in the number of enemy targets destroyed or disabled.

Highlighting the importance of self-sufficiency in technology, Syrskiy affirmed that Ukraine would push ahead with the enhancement of its drone manufacturing capabilities, tailored to meet the demands of contemporary warfare.

Ukraine Military Strikes Russian Hub for Drone Attacks in Orlovskaya Region

Ukraine’s Air Force, in conjunction with other defense forces, has carried out a precision strike on a heavily protected Russian military facility in the Orlovskaya region of Russia. In a statement released by the General Staff, it was confirmed that the target was a storage, maintenance, and repair facility for ‘Shahed’ kamikaze drones, which consisted of several fortified structures.

The successful operation has significantly degrade Russia’s ability to launch air attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure using these drones, according to the General Staff.

Ukraine Shoots Down 15 Iranian Drone Attacks Near Nikolaevsk

In the early hours of December 28, Ukrainian forces successfully intercepted and shot down 15 out of 16 strike drones launched by Russian forces from the city of Primorsko-Akhtarsk. The downed drones were identified as the Iranian-made Shahed type, along with other types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The Ukrainian Air Force and Defense Forces reported that their radar and mobile shooting groups managed to neutralize the incoming threat over the Nikolaevsk region. In addition, one drone decoy was lost during the operation.

Waves of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have swarmed across Ukraine‘s skies for the first time since November, sending thousands of residents fleeing and stirring a national air-raid warning. Starting on the evening of 26 December, the first UAVs crossed into Ukrainian airspace from the east and northeast, marking a significant uptick in Russia’s aerial attacks.

Around 9 PM, Ukrainian military sources confirmed sightings of both combat and reconnaissance drones skirting along the borders of Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Dnipro regions, reportedly heading towards the latter. Simultaneously, several groupings of UAVs surfaced in Sumy and Dnipro regions, heading towards Kherson in the south.

By 10:31 PM, more UAVs were spotted crossing over Poltava towards Kremenchuk. Following closely, another influx of drones was detected in the outlying areas of Kharkiv (23:11 PM). These were soon followed by (23:27 PM) more UAVs spotted moving from Poltava to the Chernihiv region.

Reports by midnight showed several drone groups targeting the city of Zolotonosha in Chernihiv (00:35 AM), while further UAV movements were tracked from Sumy to Poltava (01:37 AM), and a pair of drones was observed heading from Poltava towards Kyiv (01:59 AM).

By 2:24 AM, Ukrainian military reports indicated several groups of strike UAVs gearing up for a southern assault on Kyiv, triggering a full-scale national air-raid alert.

As Ukrainian forces repelled the attacks, using missiles and anti-aircraft artillery, a snapshot of the nationwide air defense map at 2:22 AM depicted a swarm of UAV movements across the country—visual evidence of the magnitude and persistence of the overnight assault.

Who is Fedor Uryupin?
