Headline: KPK Unveils Reason Behind Raid at PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto‘s Home in Bekasi

Subheading: Anticorruption Commission explains timing of search at residues of suspected bribery and obstruction of justice case

Article:

In a press conference held at the KPK headquarters in Jakarta, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has disclosed the reasons behind its recent raid at the residence of Secretary-General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto, in Bekasi, West Java. The raid, conducted as part of the investigation into a suspected bribery and obstruction of justice case, was deemed necessary and timed appropriately by KPK investigators.

KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika clarified that the timing of the search and seizure activities is at the discretion of the investigating team and is dependent on the requirement to gather evidence related to the case. " Penggeledahan kapan akan dilakukan, hanya pada penilaian penyidik," Tessa explained, dismissing speculations that the raid was conducted lately to divert attention from ongoing hot issues in the media.

The KPK acknowledged that some external parties may perceive the raid as tardy or even an attempt to shift focus from other pressing matters. However, Tessa emphasized that the commission could not prevent such interpretations. "Masalah penilaian apakah itu terlambat atau tidak, kami tidak bisa melarang pihak luar untuk berpikiran seperti itu," she said.

KPK Raids Hasto’s Residence

The KPK conducted a search and seizure operation at Hasto’s residence in Bekasi, marking a significant development in the case involving suspected bribery and obstruction of justice. Chairman of the KPK, Setyo Budiyanto, confirmed the operation, stating, "Ada kegiatan geledah oleh Satgas Penyidikan."

Hasto, a key suspect in the case of bribery related to the replacement of parliamentary seats (PAW), is alleged to have, along with Wahyu Setiawan (former KPU Commissioner), provided bribes to ensure that PDIP candidate Harun Masiku secured a seat in the DPR through PAW. Wahyu, Agustiani Tio Fridelina (Wahyu’s right-hand person), and Saeful (a private individual) have been convicted and served prison time. They have since been released.

Harun Masiku remains at large, while Hasto was only deemed a suspect in late 2024, along with Donny Tri Istiqomah. Setyo revealed that Hasto was reportedly involved in pressuring a religious leader to issue a fatwa in favor of Harun Masiku and impede Riezky Aprilia’s rightful PAW appointment.

Hasto is also a suspect in an obstruction of justice case, accused of ordering the submerging of his and Harun Masiku’s phones and instructing Harun Masiku to go into hiding.

Indonesia: KPK Raids Home of PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto

Headline: KPK Raids Home of PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto in Corruption and Obstruction of Justice Case

Article:

In a significant development, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has conducted a search and seizure operation at the residence of PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto. The raid is in connection with allegations of bribery and obstruction of justice.

Confirming the raid, KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto stated, "Yes, currently there is an active search and seizure being conducted by our investigators involving Hasto Kristiyanto." However, due to the ongoing nature of the operation, Sugiarto could not provide further details, only confirming that the targeted residence belongs to Hasto in Bekasi, West Java.

The raid comes after KPK named Hasto and PDIP lawyer Donny Tri Istiqomah as suspects in a corruption case involving the election of Harun Masiku (buron) as a member of the House of Representatives (DPR) for the 2019-2024 period. Harun was reportedly bribed to secure his position, despite receiving only 5,878 votes, while PDIP’s Riezky Aprillia, who obtained 44,402 votes, was the rightful successor to the late Nazarudin Kiemas.

Hasto is accused of attempting to replace Riezky with Harun through various means, including judicial review at the Constitutional Court and requesting Riezky’s resignation. After these efforts failed, Hasto is suspected of bribing KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and Agustiani Tio Fridelina to facilitate Harun’s appointment.

In addition to the bribery allegations, Hasto is also accused of obstruction of justice. He is suspected of leaking information about an impending arrest operation (OTT) in early 2020, which targeted Harun. Hasto is alleged to have instructed Harun to dispose of his phone and hide, and also ordered his staff, Kusnadi, to destroy evidence by submerging a phone. Furthermore, Hasto is suspected of gathering witnesses to provide false statements.

Hasto was scheduled to be questioned as a suspect on Monday, January 6, but requested a postponement, aiming to reschedule after PDIP’s anniversary on January 10.

As of now, there has been no official statement from Hasto regarding the raid at his residence.

Troubles on LRT Jabodebek Track: Train Stops Near Bekasi Barat Station

A light rail transit (LRT) train operating on the Jakarta-Bogor-Depok-Bekasi (LRT Jabodebek) line recently experienced an unusual incident. The incident occurred when the train temporarily stopped short of entering Bekasi Barat Station, raising concerns among passengers and causing a temporary disruption in service. The operator, PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (PT KCIC), has since provided an official statement regarding the incident.

In a viral video circulating on social media platforms, the LRT Jabodebek train can be seen stopping abruptly on the tracks, with a person dressed in white standing nearby, seemingly taking a photo using their mobile device. PT KCIC swiftly addressed the situation, attributing the incident to a technical issue with one of the train sets (TS) in the Bekasi Barat area. Emergency maintenance operations were promptly deployed to rectify the issue.

In a statement released via their official Twitter account, PT KCIC apologized for the disruption in service on the Jatimulya-Cawang line, caused by a malfunctioning TS15 between Bekasi Barat and Cikunir 2. The incident transpired on Monday, January 6, 2025, around 9:35 AM Western Indonesian Time (WIB). Approximately 35 passengers were safely evacuated from the affected train using TS23, which proceeded to Bekasi Barat Station.

To minimize further disruptions, PT KCIC altered the train’s route, changing the scheduled journey from Dukuh Atas BNI – Jatimulya to Dukuh Atas BNI – Cikunir 1, before resuming its journey with TS23 from Cikunir 1 – Jatimulya. Throughout this process, PT KCIC assured the public that LRT Jabodebek services would resume their normal schedules as soon as possible.

Mahendro Trang Bawono, Manager of Public Relations for LRT Jabodebek, confirmed the restoration of normal services and emphasized the company’s commitment to maintaining the safety and reliability of the LRT Jabodebek system. "We appreciate our users’ patience and understanding during the restoration process," he noted.

Despite the temporary setback, services between Dukuh Atas BNI and Harjamukti remained unaffected throughout the incident. PT KCIC urges passengers to remain vigilant and adhere to safety procedures. The company assures continued dedication to ensuring the safety and reliability of LRT Jabodebek services.

PT KCIC extends its sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by the service disruption and confirms that LRT Jabodebek operations have since returned to normal.

Breaking: Corruption Allegations Rock Pondok Gede Police Station After Failure to Act on ‘Bang Jago’ Group Attack

by Your Name

JAKARTA – A storm is brewing at the Pondok Gede Police Station following allegations that its officers turned a blind eye to an aggressive gang, known locally as ‘Bang Jago’, terrorizing a driver in Bekasi, West Java. The embarrassing incident, which was caught on camera, has prompted an internal investigation, with the Jakarta Metro Bekasi City Police Chief personally overseeing the probe.

Internal Probe Launched

Kapolsek Pondok Gede, Kompol Bambang Sugiharto, spoke to the press on Friday, confirming the investigation into six officers who were on duty during the incident. "As of now, six personnel have been under internal investigation at the Propam, Jakarta Metro Bekasi City Police," he said.

Bambang assured the public that any officers found to have committed wrongdoing would face severe consequences. He revealed that the investigation focused on disciplinary violations and standard operating procedure (SOP) breaches regarding report handling.

Video Evidence: ‘Bang Jago’ Group’s Brazen Attack

In the viral video, three men on a motorbike are seen harassing a car, causing both the driver and passenger to panic. The trouble started after the motorbike group recklessly weaved in and out of traffic, causing other motorists to slow down. When the car tried to pass them, the group responded by pursuing the car and assaulting it.

The driver, frantic and pleading for help, recorded the incident on his phone. "Please help me, they’re still chasing me! They’re crazy, please help," he shouted.

Addressing Allegations of Indifference

Bambang acknowledged the viral video and promised thorough investigation. "We’ve conducted an internal probe on the officers on duty that day. If there’s any evidence of disciplinary breaches or SOP violations, we will take appropriate actions," he said.

This incident has once again highlighted the need for robust enforcement and public accountability, ensuring that law enforcement officers uphold their duty to protect and serve the community, rather than turning a blind eye to criminal activities.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

CNN Indonesia

Article:

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia — The much-anticipated Stasiun Whoosh Karawang began operations today, Tuesday (24/12), marking the start of a new era in premium bus transportation in the region. General Manager Corporate Secretary KCIC Eva Chairunnisa confirmed that the public can now board and alight from Whoosh buses at this new terminal.

Pemesanan tiket Whoosh dari dan menuju Karawang dapat dilakukan di seluruh canal penjualan daring dan luring untuk keberangkatan mulai Selasa (24/12). KCIC applies a dynamic pricing scheme for journeys to and from Karawang. For instance, the fare from Halim to Karawang and vice versa is IDR 125,000 for Premium Economy class. Meanwhile, for Karawang to Padalarang/Tegalluar Summarecon and vice versa, the fare is IDR 175,000 for the same class. Business Class and First Class fares remain unchanged at IDR 450,000 and IDR 600,000 respectively.

To access Stasiun Karawang, private vehicle users can utilize Jl. Badami, then turn onto Jl. Pasar Jati and Jl. Raya Pangkalan. As an alternative, smaller vehicle users can take Jl. Trans Hexa Karawang leading to Jl. Raya Pangkalan. The station is also connected to the toll road via Exit Tol Karawang Barat KM 47 Jakarta-Cikampek, followed by Jl. Trans Hexa Karawang.

Eva revealed that further access routes are being explored and should be ready in the near future.

Reactions from the Public

Despite the initial buzz, some Karawang residents have expressed mixed feelings about the new service. Farhan, a local resident, is interested in trying Whoosh but cited the station’s distance from his home and the lack of adequate roads leading to it as challenging factors. He observed that the station’s location is closer to the direction of Bekasi – Karawang Selatan.

He also highlighted that Whoosh’s fares are higher compared to other public transportation options, making it more suitable for special occasions that require faster travel times. "I might consider using Whoosh for occasional trips to the airport, but for daily commuting, the commuter train would be more cost-effective," Farhan said.

Echoing similar sentiments, Bella, another Karawang resident, stressed the importance of convenient feeder services from her neighborhood to Stasiun Karawang, given the distance between her home and the station. Despite the fare, she believes Whoosh offers a more time-saving alternative to other transport options.

The wait is over for Karawang dwellers seeking a more premium and time-efficient mode of transportation. Stasiun Whoosh Karawang is now in service, ready to streamline your travels.
