For every Corona victim there are 18 recovered in Hesse

High pressure: While researchers are looking for a vaccine against the coronavirus in Marburg, the curve of new infections in Hesse continues to flatten

From Sunday to Monday, the number of coronavirus infections rose by only 0.3 percent. This is the lowest level in recent weeks. Two deaths have been added.

ÜOvernight, the number of people infected with the coronavirus in Hesse increased by 27. The Ministry of Social Affairs communicates this in its daily bulletin. The plus corresponds to an increase of 0.3 percent, an exceptionally small increase. The number of further deaths reported has not been as low as in weeks. Two new victims have become known in connection with the pandemic.

However, no district and no independent city are currently without new infections in the past seven days. The district of Gießen and the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg each briefly held this nimbus. Frankfurt has approached the 1300 mark since March 2, when records began.

According to the Robert Koch Institute, which is responsible for disease control in this country, 6,800 patients have now recovered from their coronavirus infection. I increased their number by about 100 from Sunday to Monday. That means: There are 18 recovered people per corona victim.

The Robert Koch Institute reported 25 new confirmed infections as well as two further deaths in connection with the pandemic. According to the institute’s records, 8,549 infections and 372 deaths have now been recorded. Both the institute, also known as the RKI for short, and the ministry point out time and again that the health authorities may report delays, especially on weekends. Only the cases reported electronically by the offices are included in the statistics.

The Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs publishes a detailed overview of the development of corona every day, broken down by district and urban district. It refers to figures from the Robert Koch Institute and the Hesse State Examination and Investigation Office in Health Care at the Gießen Regional Office, to which the health authorities have to report the new cases.

So far, the state office has somewhat newer figures than the RKI. However, it announced more than a week ago that it would adopt a new RKI evaluation tool. As a result, there should no longer be any deviations in the data. You can find the new bulletin here.

SET-listed Asset World Corp Plc (AWC) is the second group of hotels in Thailand to announce the temporary closure of hotels in Bangkok, closing the doors of five premises.

Wallapa Traisorat, CEO and president of the AWC, said Tuesday that the closures would reduce the risk of the Covid-19 disease virus spreading.

The more than 2,000 employees would continue to receive their wages during the closure, with the company asking all employees to stay home and refrain from traveling to other provinces in line with government policy.

The five closed hotels are: Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Hotel, DoubleTree by Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel, Le Meridien Bangkok Hotel, Okura Prestige Hotel Bangkok and Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse.

They will be closed from March 26th to April 15th.

“We are concerned about the difficult situation in Thailand and are committed to reducing the risks to the public by minimizing large meetings and the need for people to move, particularly to Bangkok,” said Wallapa.

During the closure, hotels will be thoroughly cleaned and improved, to ensure the well-being of guests and employees when the situation subsides and can reopen, he said.

AWC has 16 hotels with a total of 4,869 rooms.

On Monday, Minor Hotels Group, Minor International’s hospitality subsidiary listed on SET, said it would close its hotels in Bangkok and other nationally endangered areas in the face of the outbreak.

How many people have Coronavirus in your state right now?

This increase in testing capacity has been slow. In the 10 days following February 26, when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed that coronavirus was being transmitted through the spread of the community in the United States, federal and state laboratories tested 2,806 Americans. Another week passed before the country tested 20,000 people. Over the next few days, the country expanded its testing capability to cover at least that number of people every day.

Yet national numbers are still skewed by huge testing operations in a few states. New York, California and Washington have conducted nearly half of all tests nationwide, although those states together contain about a fifth of the country’s population. Florida and Texas – each home for over 20 million people – tested only around 3,000 patients each.

Some state public health departments do not report as much information as others. We have given each state a literal rating in the table above to help readers understand how accurate each is in their relationship. This vote is not evaluating the quality of a state’s tests, but rather the transparency and regularity of its reports.

All 50 states and Washington, DC regularly report their number of positive cases. Some states, such as Connecticut, reveal little additional information, so we have rated them D. But others, such as Florida, publish not only their positive cases, but also their negative cases and the results of tests conducted by private laboratories. These states get one A degree. Having this complete set of state level figures allows for a much greater understanding of the size of both outbreaks is the answer.

In the table above, the number of positive cases in each state includes people who are currently sick with the disease, people who have recovered from it and people who have died. We also split the death toll into its own column.

Some states have used strict criteria to determine who can and cannot be tested for coronavirus. Although we have not taken them into account at the state level, we believe that these rules – although perhaps necessary, given the lack of tests available from the CDC – have led states to underestimate substantially how many people had been infected in their communities, especially during the last week of February and the first two weeks of March. At least 18 states have imposed particularly strict rules in some counties or hospitals: California, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming. (Some of these states, such as Hawaii and Maryland, have since loosened their criteria.)
