Ferrer stated that during discussions with Dizon, the PCCI emphasized the need to resume infrastructure projects, citing a previous slowdown that negatively impacted the country’s GDP. He reported, “We discussed how to come up with criteria to get contractors to start or operate again with DPWH.”
To ensure only qualified firms participate, the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board will be involved. A meeting is scheduled for March 5 with Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan to discuss private sector involvement in policy and project approvals, with a focus on accountability.
The PCCI also intends to collaborate with the BOI and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) to accelerate the implementation of the DPWH’s green lane, with a target completion timeframe of three months. More organizations are expected to join the DPWH’s Integrity Chain initiative, an online portal utilizing blockchain technology for project tracking.
A memorandum of cooperation between the PCCI, DPWH, the Mayors for Good Governance and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines is planned for February 23, aiming to foster confidence among foreign investors.
