In a heartwarming display of generosity, actor, presenter, athlete, and content creator Denny Sumargo handed over Rp 1.7 billion worth of relief supplies to victims of the recent Gunung Lewotobi Laki-laki eruption in Flores Timur, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). The aid, which included essentials like food and other necessities, was transported in 20 trucks and distributed on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
The emotional moment was captured and shared on Denny’s Instagram account (@semargodenny), with locals of all ages eagerly greeting the celebrity philanthropist. Denny, warmly addressing the evacuees, asked, "How are you all? Thirsty? There’s plenty of drinking water."

Denny then led a communal prayer, wishing for the storm to pass and hoping that Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki‘s activities would subside. The actor, who hails from Makassar, was seen embracing the children, with some of their mothers moved to tears. Each recipient received a red plastic bag filled with aid, with some using larger plastic containers as well.
The donation is a result of the controversial Agus Salim donation fund, which Denny has taken responsibility for. In response to the news, Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Syaifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, stated that his ministry would provide clarification on the proper procedures for donation collection and distribution. "We can only provide information and clarify any misunderstandings on behalf of those who initiated the donation drive," he said.
