Mulan Jameela Denounces False Accusations of Disrespecting Teachers

Indonesian singer and member of the DPR RI (House of Representatives), Mulan Jameela, has publicly refuted claims circulating on social media that she disparaged the teaching profession. Jameela emphasized the high regard she holds for educators, both personally and as a public figure.

The Origin of the Controversy

The accusations stemmed from fabricated comments attributed to Jameela in online posts. These alleged statements suggested she believed teachers should focus on improving quality rather than requesting salary increases. Jameela expressed shock at the sudden influx of criticism in the comments section of her personal social media accounts, noting she had never made such statements.

A Firm Rejection and Defense of Educators

“It’s simply not true,” Jameela stated. “I deeply respect the teaching profession. It’s impossible for me to build statements that would undermine such a vital pillar of our nation.” She highlighted the crucial role teachers play in national progress and emphasized the importance of honoring their contributions.

Navigating Political Responsibilities and Public Perception

Jameela clarified that her role in the DPR RI, specifically within Commission VI (dealing with industry, investment, and business competition), does not involve direct oversight of education. Commission X is responsible for education-related matters. She explained this separation of responsibilities further reinforces the implausibility of her making such statements.

The Personal Impact of False Accusations

As a mother, Jameela expressed concern about maintaining positive relationships with her children’s teachers. She emphasized the importance of a harmonious connection between parents and educators in fostering a child’s development. The false accusations, she said, were personally hurtful and prompted her to issue a clarification.

Addressing the Spread of Misinformation

Jameela acknowledged the prevalence of hoaxes on social media but felt compelled to respond to this particular issue due to its impact on the reputation of teachers. She stressed that she does not typically respond to personal attacks but felt a moral obligation to defend the integrity of the teaching profession.

  • What prompted Mulan Jameela to speak out? False accusations circulated on social media claiming she had disrespected teachers.

Matteo Cambi: From Guru to Prison – A Life Reflecting

by Chief Editor March 29, 2026
written by Chief Editor

The Rise and Fall of Guru: Lessons for Modern Brands

Matteo Cambi, the founder of the early 2000s Italian streetwear brand Guru, offers a compelling case study in the volatile world of fashion and entrepreneurship. A recent docuseries chronicles his rapid ascent and subsequent downfall, fueled by both business acumen and personal struggles. Cambi’s story, as detailed in a Corriere di Bologna interview, provides valuable insights into building a brand, navigating success and the importance of self-awareness.

From Margherita to Millions: The Guru Phenomenon

Guru’s success was built on a simple yet effective concept: a t-shirt featuring a daisy. Cambi, at just 23 years old, recognized a gap in the market and capitalized on it. He left his mother’s textile business to pursue his vision, a decision he identifies as the “first link in the chain” of his entrepreneurial journey. Within two years, Guru was generating €30 million in revenue, a remarkable feat in a pre-social media landscape. The brand resonated with both celebrities and everyday consumers, creating a sense of community around a simple design.

The Impact of Speed: Then and Now

Cambi reflects on how the pace of business has changed. Although social media offers unprecedented speed and reach, it similarly creates a constant need for new content. He suggests that the more traditional marketing methods of his era allowed for a more structured and deliberate communication strategy. Today, a brand can achieve rapid sales through pop-up shops, but maintaining momentum requires a relentless stream of engagement.

The Power of Community and Personal Branding

Guru’s success wasn’t solely about the product; it was about the community it fostered. Cambi notes that he created a “real” community, encompassing both VIPs and ordinary people who felt a sense of belonging by wearing the brand. This foreshadowed the modern concept of personal branding and the importance of connecting with audiences on a deeper level. He believes he understood these dynamics before many others.

The Perils of Unchecked Growth and Dependence

Cambi’s story is also a cautionary tale. He admits to surrounding himself with people who enabled his behavior, ultimately contributing to his struggles with addiction and eventual arrest. He acknowledges that receiving assist from figures like Raffaella Zardo and Flavio Briatore, while appreciated, wasn’t enough to counteract the influence of those who simply told him what he wanted to hear. His experience highlights the critical need for honest feedback and a strong support system.

Building a Brand in the Modern Era: Key Takeaways

According to Cambi, access to capital remains a crucial factor for new businesses in Italy. Still, identifying a genuine consumer need is equally important. He observes that the current market lacks a middle ground between fast fashion giants like Zara and high-complete luxury brands, making it challenging for new brands to establish themselves. He also notes a decline in truly original ideas, with many brands relying on reinterpretations of existing concepts.

Looking Ahead: Slowing Down and Building Solid Foundations

Cambi is now focused on a more sustainable approach to entrepreneurship. He’s pursuing new projects but prioritizing a slower, more deliberate pace. He emphasizes the importance of personal growth and rebuilding a solid foundation after facing significant challenges. He states he would “redo everything” except for his struggles with drugs, recognizing that experience as a critical, albeit painful, lesson.

FAQ

What was Guru known for? Guru was an Italian streetwear brand famous for its t-shirts featuring a daisy design, which became a symbol of the early 2000s fashion scene.

What led to Matteo Cambi’s downfall? Cambi’s downfall was linked to struggles with addiction and surrounding himself with people who enabled his destructive behavior.

What does Matteo Cambi believe is essential for building a brand today? Cambi believes access to capital and identifying a genuine consumer need are crucial for building a brand in the modern market.

What is Cambi doing now? Cambi is currently working on new projects, prioritizing a slower and more sustainable approach to entrepreneurship.

Pro Tip: Building a strong brand requires more than just a great product. Focus on creating a genuine community and fostering authentic connections with your audience.

"Grooming Scandal: Teacher in Grobogan Dismissed since 2023"

Disgraced Teacher dismissed in 2023 Amidst Abuse Scandal

In a twist of events, ST, the 35-year-old woman who made headlines for abusing a male student at a Grobogan SMP, was dismissed from her teaching post as early as December 2023. The school took this step following the initial reports of the abuse.

The headmaster of the SMP, Eko, confirmed the dismissal, stating, "Bu ST was let go effective from December 23, 2023." In an interview held at his office on Friday (January 10, 2025), Eko explained that the school took immediate action after rumors of the abuse started circulating. He promptly clarified the situation with both ST and the local community.

The headmaster disclosed that ST’s dismissal was not just due to the abuse allegations but also because she was in the midst of her teaching profession certification course at the time. "I fired her because she was taking the PPG course. I didn’t want her schedule to get messed up, so I dismissed her," Eko stated firmly.

In a surprising turn of events, ST admitted to the authorities that the victim, identified by the initial ‘Y’, was her foster child. Despite ST’s dismissal, the school has allowed ‘Y’ to continue his education, putting his future ahead of the past incident.

Eko clarified, "Both parties were called in, and ‘Y’ was confirmed to be ST’s foster child. He’s still attending classes, not accounting for the turmoil happening. We have minimum competency standards. If not met, there are remedial classes. Many students have to retake exams."

The school head emphasized that any further incidents involving ‘Y’ and ST, including the march 2024 event where ‘Y’ was found at ST’s house with signs of abuse, were beyond their jurisdiction. "That incident happened in September 2024, after ‘Y’ had graduated. It’s no longer our responsibility, nor the educational department’s. We too, are victims here," Eko stressed.

Meanwhile, the local hamlet chief, Supar, confirmed that ST no longer teaches at their school but couldn’t confirm if she has resumed teaching elsewhere. He mentioned having seen ST in a local Scout uniform, suggesting she might have found another teaching post, possibly in a different region.

Earlier reports surfaced online about a religious teacher caught inappropriately interacting with a student. ‘Y’ is currently undergoing mental health treatment at a nearby pesantren.

Breakthrough in PPPK Guru Tahap 1: BKN Updates Data Verification and Release Timeline

January 5, 2025, JAKARTA – The Bureau of Civil Service Personnel (BKN) has provided an update on the status ofurăthe PPPK guru tahap 1 process. Deputy of BKN’s Information System and Civil Service Digitalization, Suharmen, shared that as of January 4, 2025, at 12:00 PM WIB, data from 484 institutions had been received and was undergoing verification for accuracy.

Once verified, the data will proceed through the system for processing, and will then be approved by the head of the Center for Planning and Fulfillment of ASN, the Deputy for Mutasi, and finally, the digital signature of BKN’s Director-General will be affixed.

Currently, data from 9 institutions has not yet been accepted by BKN but remains at the respective institutions. Meanwhile, the head of the Center for Planning and Fulfillment of ASN, Mohammad Ridwan, noted that the data processing is still ongoing.

Ridwan also emphasized that while BKN is working diligently to expedite the process, they are also managing the data processing for CPNS 2024, which is due to begin announcing results from January 5 to 12. He urged honorarium teachers to be patient as BKN strives to complete the PPPK process promptly.

Previously, on January 3, Ridwan, who also serves as the acting head of the Bureau of Communications, Legal, and Cooperation, mentioned that the number of verified and validated (verval) data teacher records runs in the tens of thousands. This number contributes to the time it takes to announce the PPPK guru results, which may not be as swift as the timely announcement of technical and NAS-NON TEKNIS (nakes) results.

Stay tuned for more updates as the BKN continues to work towards announcing the PPPK guru tahap 1 results.

**Title: "Balancing Ramadan and Learning: Educators Debate Monthly School Holidays to Ease Parent Stress"

by Chief Editor January 2, 2025
written by Chief Editor

Headline: The contentious debate on extending school holidays to a full month during Ramadan

In a move that’s sparking widespread discussion, the possibility of extending school holidays to a full month during Ramadan has been tossed into the educational spectrum, gathering varied responses from students, parents, teachers, and educational experts alike.

Currently, the educational system provides students with holidays at the beginning and end of Ramadan, coinciding with the celebration of Idul Fitri. This policy, implemented during the era of President Soeharto, fell by the wayside but was revived by President Megawati Soekarnoputri and remains in effect today.

The recent proposal to extend these holidays to encompass the entire month of Ramadan emerged following Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar’s announcement that pondok pesantren, Islamic boarding schools, would indeed take a month-long break. However, for public and private schools under the Ministry of Religion, this remains a topic of discussion, with students advised to await official announcements.

Bukik Setiawan, Chairman of the Guru Belajar Foundation, cautions that such a decision warrants consideration from all angles. "When schools are closed, children are at home while their parents continue working," he told detikEdu, raising concerns about the lack of meaningful activities and increased digital technology use during the prolonged holiday. He also noted the additional strain this places on parents, many of whom juggle work and childcare responsibilities.

Advocating for flexible school durations, Setiawan suggests that schools should have the autonomy to adapt to local conditions and students’ needs, rather than implementing a blanket policy nationwide. Suggested alternatives include reducing teaching hours or expanding other educational activities, as well as organizing reflection and wellness sessions during Ramadan.

While the debate on extending Ramadan holidays continues, one thing is clear: stakeholders must weigh the potential impacts on students’ education, family lives, and overall well-being before a final decision is made.
