Bali Shock: Chinese Tourist Sexually Assaulted and Robbed by Ojek Driver on New Year’s Eve

In a disturbing turn of events, a Chinese tourist, identified as JT, was sexually assaulted and robbed by an ojek (motorcycle taxi) driver after watching the New Year’s Eve fireworks show in Bali, Indonesia. The incident occurred in the Pecatu area of Kuta Selaten, Badung, Bali, early on New Year’s Day (January 1, 2025).

JT reported the harrowing incident to the Bali Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (Ditreskrimum) the following day. According to Detective Ketut Ekajaya from the Bali Provincial Police Public Relations Bureau, the investigation is ongoing as JT’s report was only received recently.

Sexual Assault and Robbery After Fireworks

JT was assaulted and robbed by an ojek driver after watching the fireworks display at Pantai Nyang Nyang, Pecatu. Accompanied by her friend KA, JT gave a detailed account of the events leading up to the attack and robbery.

Initially, JT and her six friends watched the fireworks together. Afterward, they attempted to hail ojecks to take them back to their accommodation at Jalan Labuansait, Pecatu. Four of JT’s friends managed to secure rides, while JT and two others were left waiting.

JT then decided to walk towards the nearest ojek stand. There, she spotted a driver who had just dropped off a passenger. She asked him for a ride back to her villa. The ojek driver agreed and started the journey with JT, leaving her two friends behind without a ride.

Instead of taking JT to her villa, the driver brought her to a secluded area on Jalan Batu Kandik, Pecatu, where he proceeded to assault her in the darkness.

"JT tried to call her friends, but there was no signal," said KA, who accompanied JT to the police station. "JT fought back, but the driver choked her and sexually assaulted her."

Robbed of Jewelry After Assault

After the assault, the ojek driver demanded money from JT. When she refused, he rummaged through her bag. Finding no cash, he spotted a diamond ring on her finger and forcibly removed it.

"After stealing the ring, he drove off, leaving JT behind," KA explained.

JT then managed to flag down a passing resident for help. She called her friends, who took her to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Bali’s Tarnished Image

The Bali Tourism Board (Dinas Pariwisata) expressed concern over the incident, warning that it could damage Bali’s reputation as a world-class tourist destination.

"The attack on this Chinese tourist is unfortunate, especially at a time when tourist arrivals are increasing," said Tjokorda Bagus Pemayun, head of the Bali Tourism Board. "We hope the police will act swiftly and severely to restore Bali’s image as a safe and welcoming destination."

As the investigation continues, JT has been provided with necessary support and assistance. The Bali Provincial Police encourages anyone with information regarding the suspect to come forward and contact the local authorities.

The names of the victims have been abbreviated to protect their identities.

Raiders Strike During Broad Daylight in Cibubur, East Jakarta; Pajero SUV Stolen

JAKARTA – A daring daytime heist occurred in the scenic Kota Wisata Cibubur, East Jakarta, on the afternoon of Thursday, December 26, 2024. A resident was held captive while thieves made off with a Mitsubishi Pajero SUV.

The brazen robbery was shared on Instagram by a victim named Hanny (@hanlift). Through her Instagram Stories, Hanny recounted how she and her brother, David, were upstairs when the crime unfolded. Hanny was in the midst of taking a shower when she heard unusual commotion downstairs.

"I was in the shower, and David was with me on the second floor," Hanny said. "The house was secure, with the gate locked and the doors bolted. Our Pajero was parked inside the gated compound. It was broad daylight, and the street was bustling with people."

David went downstairs to investigate the noise and discovered three intruders attempting to crack open the family’s safe. However, their efforts proved futile as the safe was heavily reinforced and had built-in security features.

"Our safe is state-of-the-art, with multiple layers of protection. It’s already been tried and tested. It’s virtually impossible to break into," Hanny revealed.

Despite the family’s precautionary measures, the thieves managed to steal the Pajero, leaving the victims shaken but unharmed.警中入闖寶馬 XVIe直試 drive wie新車

Armed Robber Silenced by SPBU Staff and Crowd After Failing to Steal Cash in Lampung

Article:

In a dramatic turn of events, a brazen robber attempting to hold up a State Owenship Oil Company (SPBU) in Lampung met his match when the staff and bystanders quickly turned the tables on him. The failed heist, which ended in a struggle and the robber getting away with minor injuries but empty-handed, has since gone viral on social media.

The incident took place on Monday, December 23, 2024, at the SPBU in Gedong Tataan, Pesawaran Regency, Lampung Province. A video circulating online captures the chaotic scene as a group of individuals, presumably the SPBU staff and local residents, grapple with the armed suspect.

Initial reports from detikSumbagsel indicate that the robber posed as a customer wanting to fill up his vehicle with fuel before making his move. However, his plan was foiled when he was quickly overpowered by the staff and the crowd thatassembly.

Riswan, an eyewitness, recounted the incident, "He first tried to fill up his vehicle, but then he snatched the cash bag from one of the staff. Another motorist tried to intervene, and a struggle ensued. The robber was armed with a knife, but he was eventually subdued."

The altercation left one SPBU staff member injured after being stabbed by the assailant. The would-be thief managed to escape the scene, leaving behind his weapon.

The Pesawaran Police Criminal Investigation Unit (K divisão), confirms the incident and is now pursuing the suspect. Iptu Defrat Aulia Afrat, the Kasatreskrim of the Pesawaran Police, stated, "We are currently investigating the case and gathering statements from witnesses. We are also following other leads to Tracking down the suspect."

As the search for the failed robber continues, the incident serves as a reminder that communities working together can deter and foil criminal activities. It also highlights the bravery of the SPBU staff and bystanders who swiftly responded to protect themselves and their community.
