Truck Overturns, cargo spills onto highway
A serious incident occurred today when a truck lost control and overturned, causing its cargo to spill onto the highway. The accident took place on the A13, near Rhoon, halting traffic in both directions.
The truck, a Volvo semi-trailer, was carrying a full load of industrial machinery at the time of the incident. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the vehicle swerve, then flip onto its side, scattering cargo across the road.
Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene, with police and firefighters working together to clear the debris and ensure the safety of those involved. Authorities closed the road for several hours, leading to significant delays and diversions.
The driver of the truck was luckily unharmed, despite the vehicle’s considerable weight and speed at impact. However, he was visibly shaken and required medical examination as a precaution.
Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident. Initial speculation suggests that the truck may have been traveling too fast for the prevailing wet road conditions. This theory is supported by fresh tire marks witnessed at the scene.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the local police urged drivers to adhere to speed limits and adjust their driving to suit adverse weather. They also expressed gratitude to the public for their patience during the clean-up and recovery operation.
Regular updates on traffic conditions will be provided as the situation evolves.
