The No. 7 University of Texas Women’s Golf team secured a decisive victory at the Betsy Rawls Invitational on Tuesday, held at The University of Texas Golf Club. This win marks the fifth time in the last six years the Longhorns have claimed the tournament title, and represents their second team championship this season.
Texas finished the three-round tournament at 14-over 878, a full 21 shots ahead of second-place Arkansas. Three Longhorns – Farah O’Keefe, Cindy Hsu, and Lauren Kim – finished in the top-10 individually.
Farah O’Keefe led the team, winning her third individual title of the season with a 1-under 215. She was the only player in the tournament to finish under par, carding a 2-under 70 in the final round and totaling ten birdies across the three rounds.
Cindy Hsu finished second on the individual leaderboard, shooting 1-over 217 with 11 birdies overall. Hsu recorded four consecutive birdies on holes 3-6 during the third round, finishing the day at 3-under 69.
Lauren Kim tied for seventh place, shooting a 2-over 74 in the final round and finishing at 7-over 223, just one stroke behind Oklahoma’s Gracie Mayo.
The Longhorns are scheduled to compete next at the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas, from March 23-24.
Texas Head Coach Laura Ianello expressed pride in her team’s performance, stating, “This is our second team win in a row and second straight week we have had the individual win as well. We are trending up, which is what we want to do this time of the year.”
Ianello also highlighted O’Keefe’s progress, saying, “Farah O’Keefe is trending player of the year…She is becoming elite. I think probably one of the best college players to play the game, especially here at Texas.”
