Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links Introduces ‘Character Deck Duels’ – Play as Iconic Duelists
Konami’s Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links has launched a new PvP mode allowing players to embody their favorite duelists from the long-running anime series. The “Character Deck Duels” feature provides pre-constructed decks based on iconic characters, eliminating the need for extensive card collection while offering customization options for dedicated players.
The core mechanic revolves around unlocking characters through dedicated missions. Upon completion, players gain access to a character’s pre-built deck. While these decks are ready for immediate play, Duel Links allows players to refine them using “Respect Orbs,” earned through gameplay, which can be exchanged for “Grade Stars.” These stars unlock the ability to swap up to five cards within the character’s deck, allowing for strategic personalization.
Currently, nine characters have received dedicated Character Decks: Yami Yugi, Seto Kaiba, Joey Wheeler, Jaden Yuki, Zane Truesdale, Yusei Fudo, Jack Atlas, Yuma & Astral, and Reginald “Shark” Kastle. [1]
This feature streamlines the experience for players wanting to quickly jump into duels with familiar strategies and characters. The pre-constructed nature of the decks lowers the barrier to entry, while the customization options provide depth for those seeking a more tailored experience. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links launched in 2017 as a mobile and PC adaptation of the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game, specifically tailored for faster-paced gameplay. The game initially focused on “Speed Duels,” a streamlined version of the traditional ruleset. More recently, Duel Links has introduced “Rush Duels,” a further accelerated format inspired by the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime series.
