A Riverside County school psychologist is facing multiple charges related to child sex crimes after attempting to meet someone he believed to be a 13-year-old child. The individual was, in fact, an undercover investigator, according to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
Coleman, a licensed school psychologist at the Nuview Union School District, allegedly planned to meet the individual on March 12. He has been charged with one count of attempted child molestation, one count of arranging to meet a minor for sex, and one count of attempting to meet with a minor for sexual gratification.
The Nuview Union School District informed parents last week that Coleman had resigned following the revelation of the charges. The district stated, “We were shocked and disturbed by the news of the charges,” and that Coleman was placed on administrative leave upon learning of the investigation.
Concerns have been raised regarding the timeline of the district’s notification to parents. One member of a Nuevo Community Facebook group noted that the incident occurred February 24th, but parents were only recently informed. The school district has stated that “no district students are believed to be involved in the incidents that led to the charges.”
Coleman pleaded not guilty to all charges and is currently being held in lieu of $30,000 bail. His next court hearing is scheduled for March 26.
