A magnitude 2.7 earthquake, recorded on the Richter scale, was felt in Portugal on Sunday, with its epicenter located approximately six kilometers east-northeast of Coimbra, the Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera (IPMA) informed.

The earthquake, which occurred at 17:23 and was registered on the stations of the Continental Seismic Network, has so far not caused any personal or material damage, according to IPMA’s statement.

The tremors were felt with a maximum intensity of III on the modified Mercalli scale in the municipality of Coimbra. Residents in nearby areas, including Mealhada (Aveiro), Arganil, Cantanhede, and Tábua (Coimbra), also reported feeling the shake, although at lower intensities.
