2026 Disney MCU Showcase: All Announcements & X-Men News

Marvel Studios outlined major updates for its upcoming theatrical and streaming slates during Disney’s Entertainment Showcase at D23, highlighting the X-Men film reboot, the Disney+ series VisionQuest, and the multiversal blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday, according to presentations detailed by official event reporting.

VisionQuest Expands the Disney Plus Lineup

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige took the stage on Friday, August 14, to announce that VisionQuest will close out a streaming trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along, according to stage remarks reported from the event. Feige was joined by series stars Paul Bettany, who plays Vision, and James Spader, who returns as the robot villain Ultron. Bettany joked to the crowd that “no one is ever really dead” in the MCU, noting that his character asks, “What or who is he? What is it that makes us human?” Spader added that Ultron remains fascinated by humanity, stating that “apparently we’re going to figure out humanity together.” The first official trailer for the series screened during the panel.

Avengers Doomsday Previews Multiversal Threats

The panel shifted to Avengers: Doomsday, opening with a video message from Deadpool & Wolverine star Hugh Jackman alongside off-screen commentary from Ryan Reynolds, who joked, “They have 20-some people, why do they need us?” Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, and Robert Downey Jr. then appeared on stage to introduce a trailer for the December blockbuster. According to the event preview covered by TV Insider, the clip showed Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom wreaking havoc and raising an army of iron giants while Thor (Chris Hemsworth) attacked him to no avail. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the film is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, and will bring together heroes from across the MCU, including the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men.
