3 Fixes Coming to The Witcher 3 Remastered from CD Projekt Red

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered has launched with significant technical discrepancies across platforms, with CD Projekt Red confirming it is currently addressing widespread bug reports.

Addressing Switch 2 Portable Visuals

The YouTube channel SwitchUp, which has been in direct contact with the developers, reported that CD Projekt Red is aware of the "blurry" quality in handheld mode. According to the report, the studio is currently "swamped" with bug reports, meaning fixes for the Switch 2 version will likely take at least a couple of weeks due to the necessary Nintendo patch approval process.

Global community and social media director Marcin Momot confirmed via the studio that they are specifically looking to address a "bloom effect" issue present across all platforms. Quest designer Pawel Sasko noted that the team has already shipped two hotfixes and is monitoring player feedback to prioritize further stability updates.

Hardware Compatibility Failures on PC

While console players deal with visual quirks, the situation for PC users—particularly those using AMD Radeon GPUs—is more severe. In contrast, Nvidia GeForce users have reported a generally functional experience.

The reported issues are not limited to one specific card. Community reports on GOG and Steam indicate that users with Radeon RX 9000-series hardware have found the game "completely broken." While some users discovered that reverting to older AMD driver version 26.3.1 mitigated specific hair-rendering artifacts, there is no official consensus from the studio on a universal workaround for the Radeon-specific failures.

Performance Requirements for High-End Setups

Even when the game is stable, hardware demands remain high. On that hardware, the game averages 30 fps without frame generation, rising to 59 fps when the feature is enabled, though this introduces noticeable artifacts in ground textures.

The developer has implemented Nvidia HairWorks and Linear-Swept Spheres (LSS) path-traced hair rendering for GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs to improve realism.

Current Player Engagement

Despite these technical hurdles, the game has seen a surge in popularity. This figure exceeds the previous peaks set during the 2015 launch and the 2020 popularity spike linked to the Netflix series.

CD Projekt Red Deploys Patches to Fix Bugs

What should players do if they encounter bugs?
Players should look for official hotfixes through their respective platform’s update manager, as CD Projekt Red is currently monitoring reports and deploying patches in waves. The studio has already released two hotfixes addressing save and load issues, audio bugs, and lighting adjustments.

Are these issues affecting all PC players equally?
No. Reports indicate that the most severe graphical failures, such as black textures and missing vegetation, are concentrated among users with AMD Radeon GPUs. Nvidia GeForce users are largely experiencing a stable game, though they still face high performance demands if they choose to enable path tracing at 4K resolution.

Why is the Switch 2 version experiencing visual blurriness?
The developer is currently investigating the "bloom effect" across all platforms, which contributes to visual inconsistencies. Because the team is currently managing a high volume of global bug reports, they have indicated that these specific handheld optimizations will be included in a future update rather than an immediate fix.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered was released as a free upgrade for existing owners on September 29, 2026, building upon a title that previously hit a 103,000 concurrent player peak in January 2020.
