Title: Illegal Parking Lot near Schiphol Evacuation Deadline Looms Amidst Arson Incidents
In the quiet village of Rijsenhout, just south of Schiphol Airport, a piece of land has been covertly serving as a long-term parking lot for vehicle owners. However, this contravenes local regulations as the area is officially zoned for agricultural use. The municipality of Rijsenhout has now imposed a legal order, backed by a penalty of €100,000, to dismantle the parking area by January 17, 2025.
The land, operated by a company named Perfect Parking, has been marred by several suspicious incidents. Most notably, in early November, a large fire engulfed the site, destroying approximately 40 to 50 cars. The cause of the blaze remains unknown, but the presence of multiple ignition points suggests potential arson. The incident left local residents and business owners both shocked and concerned.
On December 17, two minors were apprehended and later arrested on suspicion of arson. Although they initially attempted to flee, they were swiftly apprehended by police. More recently, during the Christmas period, a 16-year-old boy was detained after another attempted act of arson.
While the municipality works towards evacuating the land by the given deadline, they face challenges in contacting all vehicle owners. Perfect Parking, the operator of the site, was unavailable for comment. As the deadline approaches, motorists are urged to promptly remove their vehicles to avoid any potential consequences from the impending eviction.
