20 New General Practitioners Boost Regional Health Network**
The Region today celebrates the completion of the 2020/2023 three-year training course for specialist General Medicine, with the final exam session held on December 11, 2024. This marks the integration of 20 new General Practitioners (GPs) into the regional health network, strengthening primary care services.
The training course, regulated by Legislative Decree 368/1999, is a crucial stepping stone in ensuring the region’s GPs meet European directives on professional mobility and qualification recognition. The main exam session, held on September 10, 2024, saw 16 participants successfully completing their training. An additional session on December 11, 2024, accommodated the 4 candidates who temporarily paused their training due to valid reasons, all of whom also passed their exams.
Upon completion of the entire training program, the exam board declared all participants fit to practise, marking the end of the 2020/2023 course.
Cosimo Latronico, Regional Assessor for Health, Welfare, and PNRR, expressed satisfaction with the achievement: "The conclusion of this training program is a significant step in enhancing territorial health services. Our new GPs will help address citizens’ healthcare needs more effectively, particularly as primary care plays an increasingly strategic role."
The regional government’s commitment to investing in medical training is evident in its pursuit of a robust and resilient healthcare system, continually improving the regional health network.
