Putin Says He’s Ready to Meet Trump Any Time
Russian President Vladimir Putin has reiterated his willingness to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at any time. In remarks made to journalists, Putin expressed his openness to dialogue with his American counterpart.
Putin’s stance aligns with previous statements made by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova. She indicated that Russia has been prepared for such a meeting since before Trump’s inauguration.
This sentiment echoes earlier statements made by Putin. In February, he stated, "We are ready for contacts with the U.S. at any level," reaffirming his country’s commitment to maintaining mutual dialogue.
However, Putin’s comments come amidst escalating tensions between Russia and the West. Putin recently accused Ukraine of "de facto torpedoing" the Minsk agreements and criticized the West for its silence on what he called "terrorist assaults" by Ukrainian forces against Russian-speaking civilians in eastern Ukraine. The Kremlin has also repeatedly denied U.S. allegations of election meddling and has been critical of U.S. sanctions imposed on Russia.
Meanwhile, the long-awaited meeting between Trump and Putin has yet to be scheduled, with White House officials citing a lack of preparation. A high-level meeting between the two leaders is crucial, given the complex global issues they face, including Syria, North Korea, and arms control.
As international relations remain uncertain, eyes turn towards Washington and Moscow, waiting for news on when the historic meeting between the two leaders will take place.
