Breaking: Israel Launches Deadly Strike in Gaza, Dozens Killed; Netanyahu Vows Action Against Houthi Rebels in Yemen
At least 30 people have died after Israel’s military launched strikes in Gaza today, according to local rescue organizations. Eight civilians, including three children, were killed in an attack on a school in Gaza City, Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth reported.
Israel’s Defense Forces (IDF) also ordered the closure of one of the largest hospitals in the northern part of Gaza, which remains operational.
The IDF stated that the school building housed fighters and that the air strike was "precise and intelligence-based," with measures taken to minimize civilian casualties. However, Palinstan’s Wafa news agency reported that 16 other people had been killed in a series of air strikes in central and southern Gaza.
In another incident, four people were killed when IDF targeted a vehicle in Gaza City, Wafa reported. Among the dead were two Hamas members: Tawfiq Abu Naim, a Hamas parliamentary runner, and Abu Erica, a senior Hamas field commander.
Meanwhile, in Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue acting against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. Speaking a day after a rocket fired from Yemen landed in the Tel Aviv area, injuring several people, Netanyahu said, "Just as we have acted decisively against the terrorist arms of Iran’s evil axis, so will we act against the Houthis."
On Thursday, Israeli aircraft struck energy and port infrastructure in Yemen in retaliation for hundreds of rockets and drones fired from Yemen since the start of the Gaza war 14 months ago. On Friday, the U.S. military said it had carried out precise airstrikes against Houthi missile and drone operations in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.
Addressing the nation, Netanyahu said, "We will act with force, determination, and precision. I tell you, it may take time, but the result will be the same."
