Pernik, Dec 24 – cargos of rescuers are still searching for 13-year-oldNikolay from the Pazardzhik villages’ Konare‘, who vanishedwithout a trace on Dec 17. Meanwhile, his loyal dog, discovered alongside him, is battling for its life, and rescue teams are appealing for a temporary home for the canine.
Rescuers were alerted when Nikolay’s mother recognized him as her son onSunday, Dec 22, around 7:30 PM. Her discovery was made possible by a strayfemale dog reportedly accompanying the boy. Upon examination byveterinarians, the dog was found to be severely malnourished andstressful, with a dire prognosis.
The Mother’s DistressingResponse
Nikolay’s mother,externally distraught, has refused to take back the dog, stating, "I don’twant to see it." The dog is described as a female with a playfulnature, despite its precarious health. The mother had earlierissued a curious command to the dog, "Lead me to Nicky,"but the trail led them to an abandoned house by the village’slake, where Nikolay was not found.
Search Operation Update
Search efforts have beenintensified despite harsh weather conditions. A helicopter from theNational Border Police joined the mission yesterday,scouring the area, but there’s still no sign of Nikolay. Kona jelenvillage mayor Kacho Papazov reassured that the full-scale searchwould not be called off, weather permitting.
