In a heartwarming message, Indonesia’s Chief of Police, General Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, extended his warmest wishes to all Christians in Indonesia, marking Christmas 2024. The message was shared on his official Instagram account, @listyosigitprabowo.
"Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, a symbol of God’s eternal love for His people. May the joy of Christmas bring light and love to us all," General Sigit stated.
General Sigit highlighted Indonesia’s rich diversity, noting that the nation is a tapestry of varied races, ethnicities, and religions. He underscored the power of tolerance as a unifying force, crucial in building a progressive nation.
"We hope that the entire society embraces the spirit of brotherhood, carrying our nation on the wings of Garuda, soaring high towards the sky. May God’s blessings accompany our collective journey, making our nation stronger, more respected, and ever prosperous," he said.
Before Christmas festivities kicked off, senior officials, including General Sigit, held coordinated checks at several churches. The inspections, conducted in collaboration with the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) and various stakeholders, aimed to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration.
General Sigit commented, "Thanks to our diligent sterilisations conducted earlier today, all security protocols are in place, guaranteeing a safe and joyous celebration for all worshippers. Our collective efforts, along with our partners and stakeholders, ensure a peaceful and prosperous Christmas for all."
