Gelblasters, often designed as pistols or rifles, shoot out water balloons with considerable force, making them a popular yet potentially hazardous toy. Despite being imitation weapons, firing a gelblaster in public can raise concerns, especially when seen as a threat or used for mischief.

Police swiftly responded to the report, intercepting the vehicle and apprehending the person in question. The gelblaster was seized as evidence.

According to Dutch law, gelblasters are considered toys if they comply with the European Toy Safety Directive and are designed for children under 14. However, using or possessing one in a manner that intimidates or harms others is prohibited under the Weapons and Ammunition Act. Similarly, gelblasters modeled after real firearms, regardless of color, are also banned due to their similarity in shape and size to real weapons.

The police wise to remind the public that while gelblasters can be fun, they must be used responsibly and in accordance with the law.
