Ukraine Mourns: Poet and Author Alexei Bespalets Dies at 34

The literary community is in mourning as Ukrainian poet and writer Alexei Bespalets has passed away at the age of 34. Bespalets was a beloved figure in the Ukrainian cultural scene, known for his energetic spirit and passion for art.

Bespalets, who held defenses on the Pokirovsky and Kupiansk directions for a year, died while executing a combat mission in the Kharkiv region. The tragic news was announced by PEN Ukraine on Facebook, where they remembered Bespalets as a vibrant, fun-loving man who enjoyed films, music, poetry, andrash, always ready for a good time.

"Alexei ‘Shapka’ Bespalets was our joy, our loud laughter, our sharp word, our best friend," PEN Ukraine posted. "He was the best President of Kharkiv, the King of Kharkiv’s trash and underground scene. He was fearless, he wasordinates, he was our person."

Born in Kharkiv, Bespalets earned a reputation for his emotional and original literary readings. He published two collections of short stories and actively participated in poetry slams. His passing leaves a void in the vibrant literary landscape of Ukraine.

Recently, Ukraine also mourned the loss of 24-year-old actor Artem Kovbasyuk, another talent who fell in defense of the country. As the nation continues to resilience in the face of adversity, it also remembers those who made significant contributions to its culture and arts.
