Varna Police Rescue 40-Year-Old Man After He Went Swimming in Cold Sea
In a shocking turn of events, the body of a 40-year-old Varna resident was discovered in the sea, a man who had been reported missing during the Christmas festivities. Divers from the local police marine unit found the body in the vicinity of the Maritime Station in Varna, as reported by BNR.
The man was seemingly alone and decided to go for a swim in the cold sea, despite the harsh winter conditions. Police, who had been using CCTV footage from nearby cameras, witnessed the man entering the water. No one else was seen near him.
"The man was spotted by our surveillance cameras entering the sea for a swim. Unfortunately, we couldn’t act fast enough to prevent this tragic incident," said a spokesperson for the Varna police department.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of swimming in cold waters, especially during winter. The police urge the public to avoid such activities and always prioritize safety.
