Gunshots Fired at Klepp: Multiple Injured, Including Police
In a dramatic turn of events, a shootout between suspects and police has left three individuals injured, two critically, in Klepp. The incident, which began as a possible threat situation, escalated quickly, with police responding en masse and engaging in a firefight with the suspects.
The sequence of events unfolded after the police were alerted around 1:08 AM. Officers, deployed in multiple patrols, successfully tracked down a vehicle suspected to be involved in the incident just minutes later, at approximately 1:35 AM. The situation turned volatile as shots were fired from the car, where the prime suspect and another individual were present.
A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in all three occupants of the vehicle being struck by bullets. The wounded include a man in his 40s and two law enforcement officers. All three were rushed to Stavanger University Hospital, with the man and one of the officers reported to be in critical condition.
Miraculously, a passenger in the vehicle escaped unharmed from the ordeal. The Special Unit for Police Affairs has been notified of the incident.
In response to the developing situation, Klepp Municipality has convened an emergency council, confirmed by Mayor Kjetil Maudal. "We know relatively little at this point, but we’re convening an emergency council. We’re meeting now. This is a tragic event," Maudal stated, declining further comment on the matter at this stage.
The shootout has left the community on edge, with details still emerging. As investigations continue, police urge anyone with information to come forward.
