Hundreds of Families in Gabrovo Remain Without Power on Fourth Day After Christmas Snowstorm
After four days of Christmas, hundreds of families in Gabrovo remain without power, and their patience is wearing thin. Residents have organized protests to be held outside the energy provider’s headquarters as the power restoration efforts continue. Nearly 50 villages in the municipality are affected, with hundreds more across the region.
The lack of electricity has also led to water outages in some areas due to the failure of pumped stations, and mobile networks have been disrupted as well. The Gabrovo Municipality has written to the Minister of Energy demanding immediate action to restore normal life in the affected areas.
Critics from the local administration have expressed frustration, noting that signals from mayors and deputy mayors were promptly relayed to the energy company, yet the situation has not improved.
Other regions affected include:
- Lovech: Four villages are on their fourth day without power, along with several settlements in the Ugrichin Municipality.
- Eastern Bulgaria: Dozens of villages in the Elena Balkan and Veliko Tarnovo region are still without power, water, and mobile networks.
- Svishtov: Water supply is gradually being restored after a main water pipeline was repaired.
- Rhodopes: Several villages are without electricity due to power network disruptions, with repair works ongoing.
