Stable Gas and Electricity Tariffs in Ukraine until 2025
In a move that will come as a relief to many Ukrainians, state-owned energy company Naftogaz has confirmed that gas and electricity tariffs will remain unchanged until at least the end of the upcoming heating season. This means that consumers will continue to pay 7.96 UAH per cubic meter of gas and 4.32 UAH per kWh of electricity.
Gas Tariffs Unchanged
Naftogaz will continue to sell gas at 7.96 UAH per cubic meter, a price that has been stable since December 2022. This decision aligns with the current moratorium on gas tariff increases, which will remain in effect until the end of the martial law period. Therefore, any changes to tariffs would require approval from the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine’s parliament).
Naftogaz supplies gas to approximately 98% of all household consumers in Ukraine. While there are other gas providers in the country, Naftogaz remains the dominant player in the market.
Electricity Tariffs Held Steady
The tariff for electricity will also remain unchanged at 4.32 UAH per kWh until the end of the heating season. However, consumers with two-zone meters can benefit from a lower tariff during specific periods. Between 23:00 and 07:00, the tariff drops to 2.16 UAH per kWh, allowing consumers to save on their electricity bills.
Ukrainian law allows any electricity consumer to purchase a multi-zone meter and switch to the new tariff. To do so, consumers should contact their energy supplier. For example, with a two-zone meter, consumers can pay 2.16 UAH per kWh during the off-peak hours (a 50% discount on the usual tariff).
Naftogaz has previously stated that gas and electricity tariffs will not be reviewed until at least the end of the heating season, reinforcing the stability of energy prices in the near future.
