Local Tragedy: Kustendil Declares a Day of Mourning Following Fatal Horse-Car Accident
In a tragic turn of events, the municipality of Kustendil has declared a day of mourning following a fatal car accident involving equines that claimed the life of an 18-year-old girl early Saturday morning. The accident occurred around 1 AM when a car, containing three passengers, collided with several horses that had entered the roadway.
The young woman, who was seated in the back of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and another passenger were hospitalized with injuries. The horses involved in the collision were also killed.
As a result of this tragedy, Kustendil’s municipal flags will fly at half-mast, and all scheduled public events have been cancelled. In response to this incident, the local community has organized a procession that will commence at the municipal building and conclude at the scene of the accident on the main highway between Kustendil and the village of YablANOVA.
