Ukraine‘s Energy Regulator Hikes Gas Transit Fees for Businesses

The National Commission for State Regulation in the Energy and Utilities Sector (NKRÉKU) has approved new tariffs for "Oператор ГТС України" (Operator GTS of Ukraine) for the 2025-2029 period, affecting businesses but keeping residential users untouched. The revised fees were set assuming no natural gas transit through Ukraine to European countries.

The NKRÉKU noted that the previous tariffs, in place since 2019, had remained unchanged. The new rates are necessary to commence at the start of the next regulatory period, January 1, 2025.

International points have witnessed a significant jump in tariffs for both entry and exit on the Ukrainian Gas Transmission System (GTS):

  • Incoming points doubled: from 4.1 to 10.29 EUR per thousand cubic meters (mcm);
  • Outgoing points rose from 7.6-8.6 to 14.58-15.74 EUR per mcm.

Additionally, internal points’ tariffs surged approximately fourfold:

  • Internal entry points climbed from 101.93 UAH to 464.37 UAH per mcm;
  • Internal exit points increased from 124.16 UAH to 501.97 UAH per mcm.
