In a dramatic turn of events, a 38-year-old German man from Grinsfeld, located south of Frankfurt, caused havoc when he hijacked an excavator from a construction site and went on a rampage, drastically disrupting traffic and causing multiple collisions. The man, who was later identified and apprehended, initially damaged other construction equipment with the excavator. The responding police officers engaged in a high-speed chase, but the man managed to evade them until he was eventually cornered and arrested near an automotive store.
